Historic Kissimmee & Sculpture Tour

Kissimmee, Florida was Inc. in March 1883.  This three story building, built in 1919 had one of the first working elevators in the state.  It was a furniture store and dept store similar to the General store, now a medical/pharmacy.  The Monument building was Kissimmee's first post office. The Presbyterian church was built in 1886 and built for only $2400. The building reminds us of the many river boats that used to export sugarcane through Lake Toho to the Gulf of Mexico.  The Rivers building built in 1919 was the first drug store in Kissimmee.  We were able to see the modern sculptures, the Vogue, Love Grows and the statue of a well known citizen, Bette Sprinkle, who owned the Rivers building for over 50 years.  On our tour we saw the old Osceola Bank now a clay house and enjoyed a homemade cookie at Becker's Cookie Shoppe. Our town  was known as cow town because of the grazing cattle in the middle of the roads to keep the grass roads mowed.  At the train station they had to introduce Cow Attorneys because the may cows getting hit by the trains and who was going to pay for the loss.  Our downtown has many marking of the first beginning of the 1900's. welcome to Kissimmee, FL.

A day at the parks   Did you know that Giraffe is an Arabic name meaning graceful!  The white Rhinos are actually Vite Rhino named for there wide noses.  A few tidbits from our day.   The sunset was stunning at Epcot.  We spent time in China at the shop, Norway  boat ride and at Storm Force in Innovations place talking about Hurricanes and Tornado's.  We love Florida in January.

Courageous Movie

A excellent movie to encourage Fathers to be the Godly leaders of their families.  May our generation be blessed because Fathers and Mothers followed God's path.

Veteran's Home

Our group brought life and joy to some heroes of history.  We enjoyed singing hope from hymns and patriotic songs.  We assisted the Veteran's in several games of bingo.  Richardo a WWII Veteran fought Hitler, born 5-25-1919.  Charlie a blessed gentleman with wholesome memories of faith and a very large family, sixteen in all.  Stuart a sniper with 700 kills.  A duty that every soldier had to do.
Overall a time of to bring a message of hope of our God, to our heroes.  A revisit on Feb. 18th.

Jillian visited with Officer Joanne.  She has 10 Grandchildren and she was in the Air force for 3 years.

First time ever working a electronic Bingo Board.  Jillian found it was very easy, loud and a little nerve racking.  Dayna enjoyed her first time calling Bingo also.
